St. George Greek Orthodox Church
Challenge
The St George Greek Orthodox Church had sink hole issues in 2006 and the solution provided by the engineer was to compaction grout the church. Less than three years later, the church show signs of sink hole activity and another engineer was dispatched to make recommendation to repair the structures.
Solution
The engineer of record determined that in addition to compaction grouting, underpinning was necessary to support the two structures. LRE Foundation Repair, Inc. was the contractor chosen to do the work as we were familiar with the location as we completed the original project in 2006. Although a great deal of grout was estimated for the repair, the actual amount was significantly less due to the previous project. The number of underpins was on estimate.
