This Ormond Beach, Florida home sits extremely close to a body of water, and homeowners Josh and Meghan B. started becoming alarmed when they noticed cracks forming on their pool deck retaining wall. They decided to call us at LRE Foundation Repair for help. After completing an inspection, we noted that erosion and washed-out soils had caused large voids under the deck, leading to settling. Our specialist created a custom solution to permanently fix the settlement issue by installing helical piers and chemical grout. First, we used a helical pier system, which involves mechanically "screwing" galvanized steel posts into the soil and attaching them to the footer using strong brackets. Once in place, all helical piers can be hydraulically adjusted simultaneously to lift areas of the deck back in place. Next, we injected chemical grout at various points around the deck. This grout material is fluid enough to flow through loose soils, yet it expands and compacts, leaving behind a solid foundation. After the job site was cleaned up and all work buried underground, we left behind two happy homeowners and a permanently stabilized pool deck.
