Brian M. from Ruskin, FL, noticed that his concrete patio was eroding and cracking, which made him concerned. The patio had been installed just a few years before, so it was unclear why it was deteriorating so quickly. He contacted LRE Foundation Repair to schedule an assessment with one of our Design Specialists. Upon assessment, the specialist discovered that the central part of the concrete patio lacked a control joint that would have properly controlled and prevented scattered cracks. Additionally, erosion beneath the patio had occurred due to soil washout. A customized plan was developed to provide the homeowner with the appropriate solutions to repair and stabilize their patio. The specialist recommended using our two-part concrete protection system, which includes PolyLevel to provide long-term stability to the concrete and NexusPro to effectively seal the cracks. After LRE's team implemented the solutions, the homeowner was delighted to see that their patio was in much better shape than before, with long-term stability.
Concrete Patio Cracking
As temperatures fluctuate, concrete shrinks and expands, and cracks can develop if control joints are not appropriately positioned. These concrete slabs have developed serious cracking due to the lack of control joints.
Soil Washout
Soil washout occurs when water is not properly diverted away from the concrete. When it rains, the water washes away the soil, oftentimes leaving voids underneath concrete slabs.
PolyLevel Injection
PolyLevel is injected through the concrete through small drill holes as seen pictured.
Cracks and Joints Sealed
To stop further cracking and prevent water from seeping through the concrete, the silicone-based NexusPro sealant is applied to the existing control joints and cracks.
