Bourre Pool
Challenge
The Engineer of Record requested deep foundations to support a large custom new pool at this luxury home being constructed on a man-made island directly on Tampa Bay. LRE Foundation Repair was contracted by Bourre Construction as the specialty deep foundation contractor to devise a plan to complete this task. LRE's team of experts worked with Florida Geotechnical Engineering to design a network of Helical Piers to support the pool shell.
Based on the unique geology below the property in conjunction with the shallow tidal water table, helical piers provide a cost-effective and multifaceted solution, that not only supports the pool from settling on the soft marine soil, but provide uplift resistance to prevent the pool from popping out of the ground when drained.
Solution
LRE installed a strategic network of FSI HP 288 Helical Piers with a triple 10\"-12\"-14\" helix configuration to average depths of 52 feet below grade. (37) HP 2.88\" Helical piers were installed with new construction caps that were cast into the shell/foundation of the custom pool and spa at this new residence. LRE also installed an additional (30) Helical piers on elements surrounding the pool.
