Note: LRE Foundation Repair can repair concrete block seawalls. However, we cannot repair failing, crumbing, wood, or timber seawalls. We also do not pour or rebuild seawalls.
Over time, the soil around the seawall can start to wash away, creating voids and gaps around or under the wall. Without sufficient soil to support the footings, your seawall may begin to sink, tilt, or move outward.
LRE Foundation Repair can eliminate voids in the soil and stop seawall movement by injecting an innovative polyurethane foam called PolyLevel into the soil on the dirt side of the wall. Once injected, the foam expands to fill any gaps and stabilize the surrounding soils, effectively sealing off the area of concern and preventing more soil from escaping into the water.
During this process, we use a deep injection pin between five and 10 feet long to start pumping the foam into the soil, raising the pin incrementally to ensure proper coverage. Once the voids are filled, our team cleans up any excess material and fills low areas with topsoil.
Seawalls typically have weep holes to allow water to escape. However, if the weep holes are blocked or not working properly, any soil that gets past the seawall will be absorbed into the soil. This causes the soil to expand, creating inward (or hydrostatic) pressure that can eventually cause the seawall to crack, bow, or tip forward.
LRE Foundation Repair can stabilize and repair cracked, tipping, or bowing seawalls with our heavy-duty GeoLock Wall Anchors. This type of seawall repair can be completed quickly without having to excavate the soil around the wall. Instead, the wall anchors are embedded into stable soil away from the seawall and connected to steel wall plates with long, galvanized steel rods. The anchors are then tightened and will hold the seawall securely in place without any further adjustment. The wall anchors can also be tightened during dry seasons, allowing you to completely straighten the seawall over time.
