Foundation Repair Photo Album: Foundation Repair in Port Charlotte, FL
Melissa H. started experiencing stair-step cracks on the exterior of her Port Charlotte, Florida home and was growing worried there may be a bigger problem. She called LRE Foundation Repair to assess the damage to her home and come up with a possible solution. LRE first completed an inspection of the entire home, taking careful measurements of all damaged areas. During the inspection, LRE discovered loose, shifting soils and voids in the ground had caused settlement and sinking to parts of the foundation. LRE designed a system that included helical pier installation and PolyLevel injection. Helical piers are galvanized steel piers with anchors that are drilled into the soils around the perimeter of the foundation, compacting and strengthening the ground below. The weight of the home is shifted to these steel piers that are attached to the home, allowing for it to be lifted back level, and permanently stabilized. Next, PolyLevel injection is an expanding polymer foam material that is placed in the ground to fill the voids and further stabilize the foundation. Once the project was complete, this homeowner's worries were put to rest with a permanently stabilized home.
Damage to Home Exterior
This home suffered from loose, shifting soils that allowed it to sink and settle, causing cracks.
Helical Pier Installation
LRE started the project with helical pier installation where needed. These piers are drilled into the ground with small construction equipment.
Helical Pier Placement
Once all helical piers are in place, they are affixed to a bracket which then attaches to the home.
Bracket Installation
The brackets are then attached to the home's footer where the weight can then be transferred or shared with the piers rather than on the ground. This helps create a more stable foundation for years to come.
PolyLevel Injection
Depending on the damage to homes, PolyLevel is oftentimes used to further compact and stabilize loose sandy soils.
PolyLevel Expanding Material
As PolyLevel is injected into the ground, a chemical reaction allows for the material to expand, filling voids, stabilizing soils, and creating lift where needed.
